Modern two-story house with corner windows, a spacious balcony, and a well-lit patio.

New-build home with stunning views

Set in a stunning location on the edge of Abergavenny with views over the rolling countryside and valleys, Vila Mir is a contemporary new-build home that features large sliding doors and windows to maximise light and to breakdown the boundaries between the house and its surroundings.

Designed by the award-winning Loyn & Co Architects the project was shortlisted for the Wales Gold Medal for Architecture 2018 and sits within mature gardens on a sloping site. A central rendered chimney helps divide the structure of the house with the ground floor of the property built into the side of the slope.

The rear of the house is dominated by glazing to make the most of the views, with full height glass-to-glass corner windows on both floors opening up the corner of the house. At ground floor level a large single panel Grand Slider II sliding doors, integrated with full height fixed frame windows, opens to provide a seamless transition between inside and out, whilst at first floor level the master bedroom also benefits from a single panel Grand Slider II that leads out on to a private terrace (featuring frameless glass balustrades) that enjoys incredible views.

Across the rest of the house Thermo65 tilt & turn and top hung windows are utilised, providing a consistent design approach and filling the rooms of the house full of light all year around.
