The advanced aluminium frame reduces the intermediate sight lines to just 20mm - an amazingly slim sight line for sliding doors, which results in an incredible contemporary look. The sleek frame profile remains close to the glass, maintaining a truly slim sight line from all angles.
In addition to the incredibly narrow 20mm frame widths, theEDGE2.0 also features incredibly slim frame depths of just 59mm and require no chunky external reinforcement found on other systems – ensuring the sight lines of the doors look slender whichever angle they are viewed from.
theEDGE2.0 strikes the perfect balance between incredible aesthetic appeal and super-smooth operation thanks to the advanced engineering of the running gear - whatever the size of panels you opt for.
The operating mechanism consists of a double-tandem, stainless steel sealed bearing, bottom-running carriage, capped with polyamide to prevent any wear to the track.
The running gear wheels run proud from the base of the track to ensure that the operation of the doors is not hampered or compromised by leaves, stones or debris that fall into the track.
Additional carriages are used if the weight of the panel exceeds 200kg. It runs on a stainless steel guide rail with a hard-wearing threshold cover plate protecting the track from damage. This heavy-duty system guarantees smooth, effortless operation with long life and reliable performance.
The system offers a high level of security as standard and has been designed and installed to the police-preferred Secured by Design specification.
Secured by Design is the police preferred specification for security and covers a wide range of products, including doors and windows. theEDGE2.0 system meets and exceeds the requirements of the Secured by Design award and features a range of security precautions as standard. The system is designed with a continuous locking bar and five-point mushroom bolt and claw lock, along with an anti-lifting device to prevent the removal of individual panels. With a full aluminium interlock between each of the panels, it is impossible to lever the panels apart
With its severe weather rating, theEDGE2.0 ultra-slim sliding door combines beauty with exceptional performance.
theEDGE2.0 ultra-slim sliding door is a severe weather rated system achieving Class 7A (300Pa) for water tightness, Class 3 (600Pa) for air tightness and Class AE (2400Pa) for wind loads. Each panel is fully rebated, with concealed double nylon brush strips and fin seals or EPDM gasket (depending on your location) that surround the perimeter of each panel.

The latest and most advanced sliding door in the IDSystems product range is theEDGE2.0 ultra-slim sliding door. The advanced technology has enabled us to reduce the intermediate sight lines to an astonishingly narrow 20mm.
This heavy-duty twin or triple track thermally broken aluminium sliding door system enables you to create large exterior openings, maximising glass area and minimising framework. This truly is the giant of the sliding doors.
Having narrow sight lines minimises the amount of frame and increases the amount of glass, maximising the view out.

The sealed glass units on theEDGE2.0 are structurally bonded into the frame of the panel, reducing the need for traditional beading to hold the glass in place which results in a significantly narrower intermediate frame width (sight line).

When required, we fit toughened glass to comply with Building Regulations Document N. As an alternate method of compliance we are able to fit laminated glass. Both options have their pros and cons.
Toughened glass
Toughened glass has been heat tempered to increasing its strength over the ordinary annealed glass by up to five times. Other than the strength the advantage of toughened glass is that should it break it would shatter into non-sharp pieces. It is also available with the widest variety of coatings and can be supplied in larger sheets than equivalent thickness laminated glass.
When the glass is toughened it can suffer from some visual distortion making, meaning the face of the glass is not perfectly flat distorting some reflections.
Laminated glass
Laminated glass is manufactured by bonding two panes of annealed glass with a clear plastic interlayer. The benefit of laminated glass is that if it’s broken the glass will crack rather than shattering, improving security. In addition, laminated glass reduces bleaching of carpets, curtains and furniture by filtering UV rays that would usually penetrate the glass.
The drawback of laminated glass is that extreme heat or cold can cause invisible defects in the glass to form a crack due to the two panes expanding and contracting independently. As the laminated glass is not toughened is does not suffer from the visual distortion that can occur to toughened glass during the toughening process.

Each of our sliding doors is available with a colour matched D-shaped handle as standard.
We also offer a range of optional alternatives including two straight feature handles with rectangular or round profiles for a more contemporary look, these are available in stainless steel or power coated in our standard colours. Alternative you can opt for the same handles in a cranked design, ideal for configurations where the doors meet in the middle or incorporate a moveable corner post.
For an ultra-sleek appearance our colour-matched recessed handle sit within the frame of the door and allow the panels to pass over one another, whilst if you opt for a lift and slide capability within the specification of your doors, a longer handle that operates this functionality is included as standard.
