A wooden deck with an elegant stone wall overlooks the ocean at sunset. A small table and bench are placed on the deck, surrounded by sleek aluminium sliding doors on the left side.

Spectacular seaside retreat right on the beach

The term ‘right on the beach’ has long been overused in the travel industry, but for this luxury self-catering apartment in the seaside town of Sheringham, the term couldn’t be more accurate.

Perched in the cliff side just steps from the promenade and beach this stunning enjoys completely uninterrupted views out to see thanks to the large 3-panel set of Grand Slider II sliding doors that connect the interior to a private enclosed deck.

The Grand Slider II was chosen because of the large glass panes that it could accommodate, maximising the views out and filling the interior of the apartment full of light. The advanced weather rating of the system is also crucially important, with the doors offering protection from wind and rain.

The six-metre wide system was designed with two doors sliding on a double track behind a plant-on panel and the frames are finished in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016). The system was designed with a plant-on panel that sits outside of the track of the doors to increase the weather performance of the doors.

With such an exposed location the doors also need to stand up to a number of location-specific challenges. The double track system offers superior protection from sand and debris getting into the track, whilst the doors were supplied with a marine-grade paint finish to protect the paint on the surface of the aluminium frame against the salt in the air.

Beachside Sheringham has proved incredibly popular with guests since it opened its doors, offering a unique getaway on this unspoilt stretch of North Norfolk coastline.
