The Man Cave, creating the ultimate entertaining space

Having completed a number of projects for the homeowner, Lincoln-based Stirlin Developments were tasked with finalising the plans, constructing and finishing a building designed to be the ultimate entertaining space.

Making the most of the views over the unspoilt countryside on this rural plot, the Man Cave was conceived as a place where friends and family could come together. Internally the focus of the design is the ultra-contemporary kitchen which features a custom-made polished concrete worktop that doubles up as a bar.

The interior of the building is seamlessly connected to the garden beyond thanks to a large six panel set of our Grand Slider II sliding doors which are installed in an opening more than 11 metres wide in a centre opening configuration with three panels sliding in either direction.

With a large amount of glass on one side of the structure, a bespoke glass specification was discussed and agreed with Stirlin Developments. The sliding doors are installed with 6mm dark blue antisun pane on the outside of the sealed unit and a 6mm softcoast low-e pane on the internal face.

Completing the glass specification of the project is part-gable fixed frame glazing on the southern end of the Man Cave that includes angled frames. This fixed frames were incorporated to fill the room full of light throughout the day. To complement the look and feel of the overall design the same glazing specification as the sliding doors.

The finished project was highly praised by the owner, who said “We had a basic idea of what we wanted and the Stirlin design team grasped this and created something way beyond what we could have imagined. The end result ticks all the boxes we wanted and so many more, it looks amazing, space is functional with every square foot having a purpose”.
