Riverside townhouse in the heart of Cambridge

IDSystems was specified by the builders of this central Cambridge townhouse to advise on the design and installation of glazing systems to open up the rear of the house to create a contemporary and stylish living and entertaining space.

The house features an open plan kitchen, dining and living space on the ground floor of the three-storey terrace. This living space is connected to a courtyard garden by a six panel (3-left, 3 right) set of SUNFLEX SF55 bifold doors which feature a flush track to allow for a continual level floor inside and out.

Above the doors is a lean-to glass roof, which was designed in six sections to perfectly complement the sightlines of the bifold doors below. The addition of the glass roof on the rear of the townhouses not only extends the useable space on the ground-floor but also helps to flood the interior or the property with natural light.

The doors and roof are both dual coloured, featuring an anthracite grey (RAL 7016) finish on the outer surface of the aluminium to perfectly complement the exterior fascia of each property. whilst the interior of the aluminium is coloured traffic white (RAL 9016) to match the internal surfaces and finishes of the living space.
