Green-roofed, timber clad extension to a Victorian villa

This beautiful Victorian villa in North London received an innovative green-roofed extension full of natural light thanks to IDSystems installed bifold doors, gable end glazing, rooflights, window and door.

The original ground floor of the property featured an old glass conservatory on a raised platform and a tired old outbuilding at garden level. The challenge for Scenario Architecture was to design an extension that was filled full of natural light, took into account the changing floor levels of the property all whilst maintaining the same rooflines of the old conservatory and outbuilding.

The result is a spectacular design with pitched roof and gable end at one end dropping down to a flat roof on the other side. Under the pitched roof, the gable end glazing has been designed to perfectly match the profiles of the SF75 bifold doors below, whilst the inclusion of a single access door allows the extension to angle away from the existing property to create a larger space for the kitchen and dining area.

The original brickwork of the back of the property is maintained and by removing the windows of the ground floor, the light-filled spaces of the addition seamlessly extend through into the rest of the ground floor of the house.
